The Department of Mathematics, MES Abasaheb Garware College (Autonomous), Pune, inaugurated a National Workshop-cum-Lecture Series on Algebraic Graph Theory (Hybrid) on Wednesday, 21 October 2026.
The inaugural program was held in the gracious presence of Shri Babasaheb Shinde, Chairman of the Governing Body, Maharashtra Education Society (MES), and Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (Retd.), President of MES. Dr. Haribhau R. Bhapkar, Head of the Department of Mathematics at the Central University of Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir, was the Chief Guest. The inaugural lecture, titled “BEBI-MAA Mathematics Teaching-Learning Pedagogy for the AI and Smartphone Era to Support Viksit Bharat@2047,” highlighted innovative and experiential approaches to mathematics education in the era of artificial intelligence and smartphones. The lecture also emphasized the relevance of these approaches in the context of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.
A total of 57 researchers, faculty members, and students from across the country participated in the workshop. The workshop features an excellent team of resource persons from reputed universities and institutions across India. The distinguished speakers include Prof. H. R. Bhapkar (Kashmir); Prof. T. Tamizh Chelvam and Prof. K. Selvakumar (Tamil Nadu); Prof. Nadeem Ur Rehman (Uttar Pradesh); Dr. T. Asir (Puducherry); Dr. K. Arathi Bhat (Manipal); Dr. Somnath Paul (Assam); Dr. Amit Kuber (IIT Kanpur); Dr. Anuradha Garge (University of Mumbai); Prof. Y. M. Borse, Prof. B. N. Waphare, and Dr. Ganesh Kadu (Savitribai Phule Pune University); Prof. S. A. Katre (Bhaskaracharya Pratishthana, Pune); Prof. M. M. Shikare (JSPM University, Pune); Dr. Avinash Patil (Dhule); Prof. Nitin Darkunde (Nanded); and Prof. Machhindra Gophane (Kolhapur).
The online workshop-cum-lecture series aims to provide a platform for students, faculty members, researchers, and mathematics enthusiasts to engage with contemporary mathematical ideas and developments.
