Anti-Ragging Cell should be one of the important parts of Educational Institution’s mechanism. As per the guidelines of UGC under the Act of 1956, which is modified as UGC regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in higher Educational Institutions, 2009, establishment of Anti-Ragging Cell is very compulsory.
The functions of Anti-Ragging Squad will be to keep a vigil and stop the incidences of Ragging, if any, happening / reported in the places of Student aggregation including, Classrooms, Laboratories, Canteens ,Grounds, Hostels etc … They shall work in Consonance and Guidance of Anti Ragging Committee.
A team of students, as well as teachers, can be formed in the college to fight the evil of ragging. The team should be representative in nature consisting of students from all backgrounds, grades, years, genders.
Ragging means Display of noisy, Disorderly Conduct, Doing any act which causes or is likely to cause physical or physiological harm or raise apprehension on fear or shame or Embarrassment to a student in any educational institution. Thus ragging includes,
- Teasing, Abusing or Playing practical jokes on or causing hurt to a student (or)
- Asking the student to do any act or perform something which a student will not carry out in the ordinary courses, willingly.
Ragging is totally prohibited in the institution, and anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, whether actively or passively, or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be punished.

दिनांक 14 ऑक्टोबर 2024 रोजी म ए सो,आबासाहेब गरवारे महाविद्यालयात ‘अँटी रॅगिंग कायद्यासंदर्भात जागृती’ या विषयावर व्याख्यान आयोजित केले होते. या विषयावर बोलण्यासाठी शंकरराव चव्हाण विधी महाविद्यालयातील सहाय्यक प्राध्यापिका श्रीमती पूजा बघेल मॅडम उपस्थित होत्या, त्यांनी विद्यार्थ्यांना अँटी रॅगिंग कायद्याची संपूर्ण माहिती दिली व कोणकोणत्या गोष्टी रॅगिंग च्या कक्षेत येतात याची विद्यार्थ्यांना कल्पना दिली. रॅगिंग संदर्भात एखादी घटना महाविद्यालयात घडत असेल तर त्याची कल्पना विद्यार्थ्यांनी महाविद्यालय प्रशासनास देणे आवश्यक आहे असे त्यांनी नमूद केले. महाराष्ट्र सरकार व विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग अशा प्रकारच्या घटना रोखण्यांमध्ये महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका बजावत आहे याचीही कल्पना त्यांनी दिली. यांचे संपूर्ण व्याख्यान हे संवाद शैलीत झाले. 150 पेक्षा अधिक विद्यार्थ्यांनी अत्यंत उत्स्फूर्तपणे या संवादात भाग घेतला व आपल्या शंकांचे निरसन केले. या कार्यक्रमाचे अध्यक्षस्थान महाविद्यालयाचे प्राचार्य प्रोफेसर डॉक्टर विलास उगले सरांनी भूषवले. या कार्यक्रमासाठी वस्तीग्रहाचे प्रमुख इंजिनिअर सुधीरजी गाडे, प्रा. माधव विंचुरे, डॉ. रीमली बासू , प्रा. योगेश मोरे उपस्थित होते. डॉक्टर राजेंद्र जमदाडे यांनी कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन व प्रस्तावना केली. डॉक्टर बाबासाहेब गव्हाणे यांनी कार्यक्रमाचे आभार मानले.
